The 42nd Annual Family Law Symposium is presented by the Family Law Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the Los Angeles Superior Court and will be held May 8, 2010 at the Hilton Universal, Universal City. Over 350 family law attorneys, judges and others attend the annual Symposium. Debra S. The 42nd Annual Family Law Symposium, presented by the Family Law Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the Los Angeles Superior Court, will be held at the Hilton Universal, Universal City on May 8, 2010. The Annual Family Law Symposium is the section's biggest CLE event and offers a comprehensive update on a wide variety of topics relevant to the practice of family law. Debra S. Frank (www.dsfranklawoffice.com), a Certified Family Law Specialist in Century City, California, is Chair of the upcoming Symposium and Editor of the Family Law Symposium materials CD.
The event will be held on May 8, 2010 at the Hilton Universal City, 555 Universal Hollywood Drive, Universal City, CA. Over 350 family law attorneys, judges and others will attend the annual Symposium. Attendees will receive a completely updated Family Law Reference Book on CD as well as written panel materials.
The program will be introduced by the Honorable Marjorie S. Steinberg, Supervising Judge, Family Law Department, Los Angeles Superior Court, Roberta Bennett, Esq. Bennett & Erdman, Chair, Family Law Section, and Debra S. Frank, Esq., Chair-Elect, Family Law Section, and Symposium Chair. The symposium will also have a luncheon speaker, Don Mike Anthony, President of the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
There will be five panels throughout the day starting at 8:45 am. The first panel is entitled "Effectively Challenging Prenuptial and Post Nuptial Agreements and Judgments." The panelists will be Leonard J. Meyberg, Jr. (Moderator), Law Offices of Leonard J. Meyberg, Jr.; Gary Fishbein, Esq., Buter, Buzard, Fishbein, & Royce LLP; and Judge Thomas Trent Lewis, Los Angeles Superior Court, Central District.
The second panel, "Practice Considerations in Determining Income For Support," will be presented by Robert C. Brandt, Esq, CFLS (Moderator), Feinberg, Mindel, Brandt & Klein, LLP; Christopher C. Melcher, Esq., CFLS, Walzer and Melcher LLP; Tracy Farryl Katz, Esq., CPA/CFF, Gursey/Schneider LLP; and Judge David Cunningham, Los Angeles Superior Court, Central District.
The third panel is entitled "Attorney's Fees: What You Need To Know To Get Them or To Defend Against Them," with Paula A. Kane, Esq. (Moderator), Attorney at Law; Lynn Soodik, Esq., Law Offices of Lynn Soodik, APC; Steven Knowles, Esq., Knowles Collum LLP; and Judge B. Scott Silverman, Los Angeles Superior Court, Central District.
The fourth panel will be "Enforcement of Judgments: Clients Want More Than The Judgment, They Want The $$$!!!." The panelists will be Ira Friedman, Esq., Friedman and Friedman (Moderator) with Raymond R. Goldstein, Esq., Center for Enforcement of Family Support, Commissioner David J. Cowan, Los Angeles Superior Court, West District, and Commissioner Marshall Rieger, Los Angeles Superior Court, Central Civil West.
The fifth panel, "Recent Developments," will be presented by Debra S. Frank, Esq. (Moderator), Debra S. Frank, APLC; Garrett C.
